DanceSpots

ExploreDance.com is sad to report that this fine DanceSpot was a casualty of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. While it is true that most of the building was devoted to business, some of it was devoted to a charity devoted to helping children - started by a football player, as recently reported on the news. Thus, the attack on the World Trade Center was an attack on the freedoms we cherish in all forms: business, charity, sport and dance.

How can you take your swing dancing to the highest level?

The answer is -> GO to the Greatest Bar on Earth.

This hip bar, located next to the Windows on the World restaurant on the 107th floor of One World Trade Center, has the same great views without the expensive price tag. On Saturday nights they have a live swing band. Call ahead to find out who is playing. The band usually starts around 8:30 pm or so, but call to make sure. The last time I checked they close down around Midnight, so if you plan the evening right you can make it a two venue night.

They also have a full menu for a light dinner, including a sushi bar. Plus, their martinis are superb. They take reservations for parties of 6 or more.

The cover charge is $5.00. There is no cover charge if you have dinner there.

The band was very good. The dance floor was rather packed. The food was good - about average price for a dressy place in New York City. They make a very unusual martini. Keep in mind that this is NOT the super expensive Windows on the World restaurant, but the bar next door, so you don't have to break the bank to go there.

You can get there on several subway trains. The ride up the elevator takes about 2 minutes.

Check out the hip decor.

The Yallopin Hounds belt one out.

Swing out. Balloon sculptures, real people - you meet all types in New York. Everyone was having a great time.

One more picture of a happy crowd in happier times.
