John Festa, one of New York City's West Coast Swing event organizers, has moved his weekly party back to Wednesdays, now at a bar called Chetty Red. The place has a warm feel. The floor is in very good condition for dancing. As the night went on quite a few of the regulars showed up, so there was plenty of opportunity to dance and to watch some of the best West Coast Swing dancers in New York.
For the geeks who are reading this, I was experimenting with my Nikon 5700 by using exposures of one to eight seconds with the camera placed on a table. Normally I shoot handheld with exposures no slower than 1/60th of a second.
Random transportation note: You can get close to Chetty Red by taking the F or V trains. Just keep in mind that below 59th street the B train runs express, not local. This is important if you live on the Upper West Side and don't normally take trains on the 6th avenue line because above 59th street the B does run local, so it is understandable to mistakenly assume that the you can get to 23rd street and 6th Avenue from the Upper West Side as a one seat ride.
