Friday Evening Tea Dances at the Cobb Galleria Centre
DanceSpot review by Robert Abrams
July 18, 2003
I have been working here in Atlanta for the past week. My co-workers and I had lunch several times at a place called Jock and Jill's (the food is very good, by the way). To get there we had to pass through the Cobb Galleria Centre. Today there was a sign announcing dancing later in the afternoon. After work I got my shoes and checked it out. Except for one younger couple, the attendees were all older. The music was a mix of CDs and live music played by three people including Gary Casten and Beverly Gray. As befits a tea dance, the music was mellow ballroom music. The live music was very enjoyable.
They offer a dance lesson at 4 pm and music starts at 5 pm, running until 8 pm. The people were very friendly. Food and drink is available. The event itself is free. The Cobb Galleria Centre is located just inside I-285 on Cobb Parkway. Call 770-989-5100 for more information.
