Savoy Sundays - Swing at Irving Plaza

Robert Abrams
August 7, 2005

The New York Swing Dance Society puts on a fun Swing event one Sunday per month at Irving Plaza (17 Irving Place at E. 15th Street in New York City). They have a live band, which this time was Full Swing (sans Ron Sunshine who was sick). The music is mostly conducive to East Coast and Lindy Hop. A full bar is available. The hall is spacious and the floor is good. Admission is $15, or $11 for students, seniors and members of the Society. Doors open at 7 pm with a dance lesson from 7 to 8 pm.

Putumayo World Music was in attendance featuring their new CD "Swing Around The World". The CD features music from an international set of bands and is quite danceable and enjoyable to listen to.
