Carlos Porto's Charity for Homeless Dogs - a report on the benefit at You Should Be Dancing
By Robert Abrams
March 1, 2003
You Should Be Dancing hosted a benefit for Carlos Porto's shelter for homeless animals in Brazil and the Care Fund of the New York Center for Animal Care and Control. There was a full house with dance lessons, performances, raffle prizes and much general dancing.
There is much suffering in the world. Our efforts to address such suffering among those least able to speak for themselves, as much as we can since to be human is to be imperfect in our abilities while striving in our goals, is a measure of our capacity to be civilized.
