Swing and Salsa at Nell's - presented by Prentice Productions with special guest co-host You Should Be Dancing dance studio

Jazz Hot & Jump Blues Entertainment, a division of Prentice Productions and You Should Be Dancing hosted a Swing and Salsa party at Nell's, the famous New York City night club (246 West 14th Street at 8th Avenue). The evening had a relaxed start with a free Salsa lesson at 7 pm, and then quickly picked up steam. The Swing floor was packed with dancers who were very appreciative of George Gee and his Orchestra. The Salsa floor had a little more room to breathe, but nonetheless got constant use. A fair number of people were spotted dancing on both floors at various times of the night. Most of the Swing was Lindy Hop, although I did spot a number of people who I know to be Westies, and had the floor been less crowded there were a few songs that were appropriately Foxtrot. Nell's provided a very elegant space, what with the wood paneling that makes it look like a cousin of Delmonico's. The next dance event there organized by the folks who brought you this event will be April 27.
