Swing at pier 25

The band, Andy Farber and the Swing Mavens, played with a refined yet hip style. The singer, Lauren Altschul, has a sweet and melodious voice. The dance floor was packed. After a sweltering day, the cool evening river breeze was most welcome. The event has a lower key feel than SPICE at Pier 63, -- it seems to be a more family oriented space - one kid was having a birthday party. The overriding impression, though, is similarity. Outdoors by the river, music. Dancing. Friendly people. New York needs as much of these sorts of events as it can get.
