A Celebration of Dance in Ithaca, New York
Robert Abrams April 28, 2004
To celebrate National Dance Week, organizers in Ithaca, New York held dance lessons at the Wessex-Bristol Art Gallery, a Capoeira demonstration outside on The Commons, and a performances at the State Theatre. National Dance Week is usually about bringing performers to a town to promote appreciation of dance. In Ithaca they decided to focus on the talent they already have in the area, and to give people an opportunity to try it for themselves. The result was an accessible celebration attended by over 120 people.
