FORR² is a fun Brazilian partner dance that looks a little like Salsa with some Swing thrown in, but feels like Samba. It is often danced in a close embrace. The music by Rob Curto and ForrŪ For All was compelling. They tended to blend one song into the next in a way that kept the dancers on the floor. During the first set I danced non-stop for what must have been a half an hour with a woman who claimed that this was her first time. Either she was being modest, or she is a natural. Our connection was amazing, such that I will be scanning the crowd the next time SOBs throws a ForrŪ party (plus she kissed me on the cheek as she was leaving). That next time will be the last Sunday in January 2006. SOBs' ForrŪ party used to be a weekly event, but it is now going to be a monthly. ForrŪ may be the dance of Brazilian taxi drivers, but where would New York City be without taxi drivers, so come out and support a great dance, music and party and maybe SOBs will consider hosting the fun more often. As my recent experience proved, you don't need to be Brazilian to find dance partners at SOBs' ForrŪ party.
