The subway is New York City's biggest theatre. There you will find millions of characters. Heather waits for the train at Astor Place with her fellow straphangers, although she does appear to be the only person peering down the track en pointe.

Heather stands in 11th position. You didn't know there was an 11th position in ballet? This is the position that says, "I'm waiting for the train, I'm drinking my coffee, and I am a New Yorker, so don't mess with me."

Heather received rapt and respectful attention from her audience on the 6 train heading uptown.

A elegant show needs a grand set. Heather found her grand set on the balcony in Grand Central Terminal.

A great show needs a great supporting cast and crew. Major ballet companies have a cast of thousands (or at least it seems that many). We made do with two. Here Robert, wearing a black Weatherproof Denver Athletic Club jacket, provides partnering support to Heather. Natalie was our fearless photographer.
