This CD is an intoxicating re-creation of familiar Tango melodies, mainly on flute and piano. The interpretations of Piazzolla and other Argentinean composers are perfect for listening, dancing, or entertaining, with romantic rapture and punctuated rhythms.
Notable tracks:
#3 - Malena - Composed by L. Demare and H. Manzi. Mariano Castro introduces powerful piano trills in his introduction to this piece. Eduardo Tami plays the romantic melody with drama, as Castro changes keys and takes the listener on a jazzy journey.
#9 - Fuga y Misterio -- Composed by Astor Piazzolla. This popular Piazzolla work has a unique concept here, with flute and guitar creating a lightness and racing sensation. Then, a trio of flute, guitar, and piano moves the momentum to melancholia and mystery.
#13 - Taquito Militar - Composed by M. Mores. The Milonga (fast Tango for dancing) is engaging and electrically charged. Its energy level makes it appropriate to be played at Tango Milongas (dance events) around the globe.
# - Rapsodia PorteŇa Nro. 2 - Composed by Eduardo Tami. Tami's own composition has a decided classical infusion, almost Baroque in quality. This charming piece is introduced by Castro and then echoed by Tami in a fascinating and fanciful theme. (See other Tango CD Reviews.)
