Leopoldo Mucci, owner of Caffe Taci, had a great idea -- Brazilian Night at Taci! Taci's own beloved tenor, Gaston Rivero, sang Brazilian melodies, dance pieces, Latin songs, and Italian arias. He also danced with the guests. Mallory Stevens, a Taci regular, was the announcer, and she had invited many lovely guests, some of whom sat at my table at a Band-side location. The music was fantastic, and everybody wanted to dance. I was the first, dancing with Gaston. Then the restaurant was rocking with the Samba rhythm and sound. The band had been heard at Carnegie Recital Hall, but they time they played in the Brazilian Samba rhythm, and Gaston sang in Portugese. What a Party!
